How do i change phones without being eligible for an upgrade?

ok i have a blackberry pearl but its crappy and now i can afford to get a blackberry storm with that buy one get one free deal from verizon. my dad is the account holder and i want to stay under him cuz we have the family plan but my sister and i want to get the storm. is it possible to buy the storms without getting out from under my dads account? if so how do i do it?How do i change phones without being eligible for an upgrade?
You can buy new phones- you just go buy them. You'll have to pay full price unless you're eligible for an upgrade, though. (The buy one, get one free probably still works, just they usually have two prices listed when you go to the store. You'll have to pay the expensive one)

You are able to switch phones at any time without leaving your plan, it just will be more costly. You also will have to pay a transfer/activation fee for the new phone. How do i change phones without being eligible for an upgrade?
your dad has to go do it. and in order to take advantage of the BOGO offer, you have to sign new 2-year contracts on both lines, otherwise, you have you pay full price for both of them. I'm not sure about Verizon, but T-mobile allows customers to do partial upgrades, which is just a little bit of a discount [~$100] off a phone if you're not eligible for the full upgrade. you might see if they can do that, but even if they let you do a partial, you won't be able to get the BOGO offer.

then again, it never hurts to just go in and talk to a representative.
