How to switch phones with Verizon without paying an outrageous amount for it?

Verizon is expensive. I got a palm centro. It sucks. No one told me that i would have extra fees for having a PDA. So now instead of my phone bill being $90 its $190. I want to change phones but can only get another one for full retail price. Where can i buy a phone that will work with Verizon? A reliable website perhaps?
